How To Open Your BPI Direct Save-Up Account

As promised in my previous post, I will post the step-by-step guide on how to enroll or open your very own BPI Direct Save-Up Account. For this, you need to have an existing account in BPI and that you have enrolled your account in BPI Express Online. The reason for this is that your existing account number will be the source of funds for  your automatic savings in the Save-Up account.

To open an account, you need to visit the website of BPI Direct Savings Bank. BPI Direct Savings Bank is a subsidiary of the Bank of the Philippine Islands and it provides internet banking services to existing account holders. What BPI Direct does is that you can do online transactions such as opening other accounts without the need to visit a brick and mortar bank branch. Cool, huh? Okay, now let's go back to the steps on how to open your own Save-Up account.

1.) As soon as you are directed to the homepage of BPI Direct, click on the Products  or just click on the middle option as indicated in the picture.

2.) You will be directed to the enrollment page of the Save-Up account. Scroll down until you see the option to open an account. By the way, please don't forget to read the FAQs to understand the product even more.

3.) You will be directed to the online account application. Please feel free to answer the questions before clicking the Continue button. Once you click Continue, you will be prompted to confirm the information. Click "OK".

4.) Log on to your existing BPI Express Online Account so that you can nominate the account that will serve as the source fund for your savings. Choose the options of the fund transfer as indicated on the second picture. Here, you will be asked to nominate a particular fixed amount that will be debited from one of your BPI accounts. Moreover, you will also designate the dates wherein your money will be deducted for your Save-Up account.

5.) After clicking Continue, you will be prompted to the application confirmation page. You need to wait for several days for your account to be activated. Also, you need to wait for a few months for your account info card which will is linked to the BPI-Philam insurance. I will teach you more about the info card as soon as I have received mine.

 Happy saving!

Update (April 14, 2013): Last week, I just got my BPI Direct Save-Up Info Card by mail. Woohoo!

    1. Hi! It took more than three months for them to mail the card. Customer support said that they have to deal with a lot of applications that was why the card was delayed. Are you still waiting for your info card? Hope you get it soon but if you are anxious, you can always e-mail BPI for your inquiries. ^_^

    1. Hi! Gianmaurin. Unfortunately, you need to e-mail BPI for that. You can, however, make voluntary transfers by clicking the FUNDS TRANSFER tab on your EOL account.

  3. Hi just a question..When will the save-up account appear on my Portfolio? (EOL)

  4. Hi there. Yes. If BPI has already activated your Save-up account and has started deducting money from your designated source fund (other account), you should be able to see your save-up account in your EOL. You will also get a notification for every deduction that BPI makes on your email.

    1. "If BPI has already activated your Save-up account and has started deducting money from your designated source fund (other account), you should be able to see your save-up account in your EOL." -> Even if you have not received the info card yet? You can already view your save-up account current balance too in your EOL even if you have not received the card yet? Because in their site it is stated that the info card details are impotant to view your save-up account details, just a bit confusing.

    2. Sorry for the uber late reply. Here are my asnwers to your questions.

1.) Yes. Even if you haven't received your info card, your Save-up account is already activated thus BPI will start deducting money from your source fund.

2.) You can see your current balance on your Save-up account on EOL even if you don't have your info card yet.

Don't worry. The info card, as I was told by the kind lady from BPI, is used as a proof that you are enrolled and qualified for the insurance that comes along with it. Hope it helps.

    1. Yes. You are right. It is the date when your source account will be deducted for the first time to fund your Save Up account. Hope this helps.

  7. Hi, I have questions about the info card. 1. Aside from being linked to BPI-Philam insurance what do we need the info card for with our online save up account? Do we need to activate it? why and how? 2. Can we put the BPI local branch address as the mailing address for the info card if we currently do not have stable address? Thank you.

    1. Hi. Sorry for the super late reply.

1.) You don't need to activate your info card (BPI-Philam insurance card). It is provided for insurance purposes.

2.) You can use your local BPI branch as the mailing address to claim your card. Just don't forget to keep in touch with the bank personnel for the whereabouts of your info card.
